I am a general contractor. I needed to purchase this product because my customer picked out a thicker than normal interior door casing which I installed on all of the doors. In this instance, if you do not install this extended strike, the door latch on the edge of the door will hit the door casing and will eventually damage the casing over time. I installed new door knobs and as I tested each door to make sure that it closed properly, I noticed that the latch on the edge of the door had put a small chip in a few of the new extended door strikes. They seem like good quality strikes, however, they should not scratch or chip the very first time you close the door. Also, the screws are too big for the countersinked holes. The screws should be flush with the surface of the strike. I ended up using the screws that came with the new door handles. I think that for the quality, they are way too expensive. I could go to The Home Depot and buy a standard size strike for around half the cost of what I paid for these. Next time I need these, I will order from a brand name door hardware company.
